The perennial favourite musical ‘Blood Brothers’ is coming to the Sands Centre in Carlisle.

Willy Russell’s legendary musical tells the captivating and moving tale of twins separated at birth, who grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with tragic consequences.

The show will run from Tuesday, October 4 until Saturday, October 8 and stars Sean Jones as Mickey.

‘’It’s my dream role – The moment I saw Blood Brothers for the first time there was a light bulb moment realising that Mickey was the perfect role for me’’ said Sean ahead of his final appearance as the character.

‘’The mix of comedy and tragedy in the role mean I just don’t get bored playing Mickey; I just love it!’’

Sean is known as the most iconic actor in the role of Mickey having played the character numerable time since his first tour as Mickey in 1998.

Audiences have loved the show since its first performance in the West End in 1983.

‘’I think it resonates with audiences across the country on so many different levels’’ said Sean when asked why it remains an audience favourite.

‘’The show is about families and loss, but it also has comic elements, so it is able to touch people in different ways.’’

This current tour is Sean’s first since the Coronavirus lockdowns and said that this show feels ‘’special’’ in comparison with others.

‘’People often ask me if I ever get bored (of playing Mickey) and I always say it’s impossible to get bored!’’

‘’There’s always so much energy in the room and that gives me such an emotional kick regardless of if it’s a wet Wednesday matinee or not.’’

Sean has performed in Carlisle before and says the city is one of his favourites.

‘’I love Carlisle! It’s in a beautiful part of the country and I just can’t wait to be back.’’
