North Cumbria Integrated Care (NCIC) have announced their arrangements for the bank holiday on Monday, September 19.
Due to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on the day some services have been stood down as staff are given the opportunity to watch the historic occasion.
“We are prioritising cancer and urgent activity and will also run routine activity where staffing allows,” said the trust.
“We will run a reduced elective operating schedule at both the Cumberland infirmary and the West Cumberland hospital and continue to work through the outpatient programme.”
Paediatric, orthodontic and routine ophthalmology clinics have already been postponed.
There will be partial capacity in urology, ENT, gastro, cardiology, dermatology, gynaecology and rheumatology.
NCIC are in the process of writing to patients about whether their scheduled appointments are going ahead or not.
Despite the challenges this short notice bank holiday has provided NCIC are still encouraging all people who need urgent medical and dental attention over the bank holiday to either call 999 or 111.
