A local collective of crafters and makers will be lining the streets of Carlisle this weekend as their inaugural event takes place in the city centre. 

The ‘Quirky Eclectica Artisan Market’ aims to shine a light on local sellers, with a variety of products on offer including candles, artwork, soaps, ceramics, crystals, brownies, jewellery, spirits and more. 

Organised by locals Ashley Walker and Tracey Lindsay, the market aims to offer something unique to local shoppers and tourists. 

Ashley said: “Our group of Cumbrian crafters have been working so hard on producing their handmade goods and can’t wait to share them with the people of Carlisle. 

“This is something that we’ve been working on for a long time, and we can’t wait to see what the traders and public think.” 

Tracey added: “Our plan is to host the Artisanal Market on the third Saturday of every month, and we’re putting a strong focus on handmade, eco-friendly, fairtrade and natural products.” 

Paul Walker, destination manager at Carlisle City Council, said: “We’re proud to be working with such a bright and talented group of people, and provide them with the opportunity to sell their locally produced products in the heart of our city centre. 

“We’re always working to ensure that local entrepreneurs are represented in our city, and this event is one of many ways that we’re making that happen. Good luck everyone!” 

The market will be taking place from 10am-4pm, and stalls will be positioned around the Market Cross statue on Scotch Street (opposite Carlisle’s Tourist Information Centre).
