THIS week the country is mourning the death of our late monarch Queen Elizabeth.

After 70 years on the throne, the Queen passed away this month with people across the country coming together to mourn.

People in Cumbria have been doing a whole host of things to mark the occasion - with one pub in Gosforth creating an impressive mural.

The Lion and Lamb have painted a mural on the outside of their pub to mark the death of the Queen this week.

Richard Mawson, the pub's landlord said: "As a pub we've always been very passionate; for Remembrance Day we painted poppies outside and when we were in the midst of Covid we created an NHS mural.

"I had seen on Facebook that other pubs were doing murals for the Queen, so we decided to do our own.

"Everyone seems to absolutely love it, every other car that goes past stops and people get out to take a photo.

"My dad put some flowers outside and other people who have passed by have left flowers as well, we've had about ten bunches so far.

"It's absolutely stunning, it's a different level of good."
