Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life are set to host a free afternoon tea for military veterans as part of the museum's 90th birthday celebrations.
With the assistance of local businesses and the help of volunteers, the military museum based within Carlisle Castle, is inviting local veterans to attend the occasion on Sunday, October 16.
Jules Wooding, museum manager said: "Including our local veteran community in our 90th birthday plans is very important to the Museum. We want to encourage veterans to book their free place so they can be part of our celebrations.
"We would like to thank the local businesses who have already been so supportive. Country Flavours are providing home-made jam, and Claire’s Bakery are making birthday cupcakes, however, we are still looking for help and support to provide elements of the tea so we can really make this a really special occasion," she said.

Angela Irwin, museum assistant has been co-ordinating the task and is delighted with the response so far.
"We are looking to cater for 70 veterans and are still open to donations from businesses to provide elements of the tea. From scones to clotted cream, sausage rolls to scotch eggs - we want to make this a special afternoon for veterans and would value all contributions."
Donations have already been offered by Asda and Tesco, local firms John Watt and Sons, and Cranstons. However, the museum are still looking for support. If you can help with a donation, please contact Angela Irwin on: Angela.irwin@cmoml.org
Veterans from any branch of the Armed Services are invited but it is on a first-come, first-served basis as spaces are limited at 70 people.
