PLANNED works for a major city road have been postponed for the foreseeable future, due to ongoing work for a new major supermarket.
Works to imrove the carriageway on the A6 London Road in Carlisle, were due to statr taking place from next Monday, October 3 but will now be delayed, the council have announced today.
There is no indication yet as to when the improvements will now take place.
The works have been postponed due to ongoing works being carried out to build a new Lidl in the Warwick Road area of Carlisle.
The grocery retailer will open a 20,450 sq ft store off Warwick Road in Botcherby, after planning permission was granted last October.

A statement from Cumbria County Council said: "Planned resurfacing works which were due to take place from 3 Oct have been postponed due to the ongoing works on Warwick Road (for the new Lidl).
"The works will now be rescheduled for a later date."
