As we head into October there is no doubt that the nights are drawing in, the morning are getting colder and bonfire season will soon be upon us.

Plans are already underway for bonfires and firework displays across North and West Cumbria to help you get over those Autumn blues.

The Carlisle Fireshow organised by Carlisle City Council will return for the first time since 2019 with over 30,000 people expected to come to Bitts Park in the city centre to enjoy the family event.

This year’s event will be part of the 1900th anniversary celebrations of the building of Hadrian’s Wall and the centre piece bonfire will be Roman themed with more than 2,000 spectacular fireworks being set off.

On the day of the fireshow, there will be no fairground and Castle car park will change into a Fireshow Village, offering food and family entertainment to families between 5pm and 8.30pm.News and Star:

This year’s event, which starts at 6:30pm on Friday, November 5, is the 33rd Carlisle Fireshow which had previously been named as one of the best in the country by The Times newspaper.

Leader of Carlisle City Council, John Mallinson, said: “This year’s event will celebrate the celebrate the 1,900th anniversary of Hadrian’s Wall. As well as a 40ft bonfire, there will thousands of fireworks and it is set to be must-see event not to be missed.”

The annual Walby Farm Park ‘bonfire bonanza’ event will be returning for 2022 for one night only on Thursday, November 4.

Booking is now open for the event which combines a bonfire, fireworks, food and drink from the farm’s very own Cowshed Café and Piglets’ Pantry.

Workington Town Council are organising a firework display at Derwent Park, the home of Workington Town RLFC on Saturday, November 6

Alongside the great firework display, a fireshow by Matrix Circus will start the event at 5:30pm.
