BUSINESSES, top training providers and national employers are among the exhibitors at a Skill Fair organised by Workington MP Mark Jenkinson.

The event is due to be held on Thursday, February 9 in the Workington Leisure Centre between 3pm and 7pm.

The intention behind the event is to promote the opportunities available across the constituency.

This is the first year Mark will host the Skills Fair, but it is hoped that this will become a yearly fixture in the constituency calendar.

He said: “I want this to become an annual event promoting talent, raising aspiration, and helping thousands of young people and jobseekers access the plethora of training and apprenticeship opportunities the Workington constituency has to offer.

“When I was elected to parliament in 2019, I pledged to support our young people to be able to access high quality jobs and skillsets.

“I’ve since championed my own Education Bill to royal assent, making it law for year 7 children to receive careers guidance and information that will make those hard decisions about their future much easier.

“As a father of four, it is important to me that all children and young adults have the resources needed to give them the best start to life.

“The Workington Skills Fair will provide our young people with an opportunity to consider a wide range of careers and engage with industry professionals.”
