A DRIVING ban has been imposed on a Carlisle man who has admitted careless and drink driving.
Daniel Mark Towers, 33, committed the offences on September 16 as he drove a Volvo V40 on Stanwix Bank, Carlisle, when his car clipped a cyclist and left him injured, magistrates heard.
At the time, the defendant was over the drink drive limit: a test confirmed he had 51mct of alcohol in 100mls of breath.
The legal limit for driving is 35mcg. Defence lawyer Jeff Smith said the cyclist sustained a 'relatively insignificant injury.'
After legal discussions, magistrates adjourned the case until December 5, imposing an interim ban on the defendant, whose address was given as Oswine Place, Carlisle.
The ultimate length of the driving ban will be decided when the defendant is sentenced.
