A MOTORCYCLE rider has been taken to hospital after being hurt in a collision with a taxi close to Carlisle city centre this morning (Thursday).
Police say they were called at 9.41am to the report of a crash involving a motorbike and a taxi.
The incident occurred in the area of the traffic lights at the junction of Botchergate and Court Square, close to the Griffin pub.
“Police and ambulance attended the scene,” said a Cumbria Constabulary spokesman.
“The rider of the motorcycle was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-changing.”
Diversions were put in place while paramedics treated the injured rider, with northbound buses travelling along Crown Street and James Street to reach the city centre.
“The vehicles have since been recovered. However, congestion may still be experienced in and around the area,” added the police spokesman.
