POSTAL workers are on strike today as part of their long running dispute with Royal Mail.
Members of the Communications Workers Union (CWU) are walking out over a dispute over pay and working conditions.
This strike action is part of the previously announced 19 days of strike action in the run up to Christmas – traditionally the Royal Mail’s busiest time of year.
The proposed days include Black Friday and Cyber Monday, where companies slash their prices for a short period before Christmas.
Hopes of a thaw in the relationship between workers and management seem a long way off as both sides claim the other has refused to meet with them so strike action looks set to continue throughout the autumn and into the new year.
On days when strike action is taking place the Royal Mail said it will deliver as many Special Delivery parcels as possible, will prioritise the delivery of Covid tests and medical prescriptions wherever possible - but will not be delivering letters.
