A motorist has denied being in charge of a vehicle while over the alcohol limit at a Lake District youth hostel.
James Ward, 22, pleaded not guilty to the charge he faces when he appeared at Workington Magistrates’ Court today.
Ward, of Manor Road, Scarborough, is accused of being in charge of a Vauxhall Corsa while the proportion of alcohol in his breath – 69mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – exceeded the limit.
The offence is alleged to have taken place at Denton House Youth Hostel in Keswick on October 1.
Magistrates agreed to transfer the case to Scarborough Magistrates’ Court, with a date to be confirmed.
Ward was granted unconditional bail until his next court appearance.
