- Cumbria Police say no one has been injured in the incident
- Emergency services at the scene after train carriage ditched into river
- Disruption to services all day Thursday October 20
- Buses have replaced Northern trains between Carlisle and Appleby and Wetheral. West Coast Main Line services are not affected.
- Cumbria Police said last night: "Emergency services are currently at the scene of a freight train derailment in Carlisle.
- "No passengers were on the train and there are not believed to be any injuries.
- It happened in the area of the Petteril Bridge junction, off London Road, before 9.30pm tonight ( October 19 ).
- "People are asked to stay away from this area while emergency workers deal with the incident."
