GIANNIS Pizzeria in Carlisle were handed a new three-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
The restaurant on Cecil Street was given the score by the Food Standards Agency after an assessment that was completed in August.
Responding to the updated rating, Giannis' Alex Ben-Dhaou spoke of the restaurant's regret at the rating.
He said: "We had our [5-star] hygiene rating for 36 years.
"We are absolutely disappointed," he continued.
This latest review of a Carlisle restaurant means that of the city's 207 restaurants, cafes and canteens with official ratings, 185 (89 per cent) have food hygiene rating of five whilst there are none with zero ratings.
