PLANNING has been approved for a the take down of a play area at an Eden School- with the replacement of a covered canopy that will allow children to move within the school more easily.
Long Marton Community School, Long Marton in Appleby in Westmorland submitted an application to Eden District Council for the extension and internal alterations to classroom.
The application was submitted to Eden District Council on September 30 and was approved on October 26.
The apllication will allow the 'underused' play area to be taken down and children to move more easily throughout the school area through a covered canopy.
A design and access statement said: "This Design & Access Statement is to support the application for planning permission to take down and partly relace a current covered play area with a part internal link from the subject Classbase back into the rest of School
"At present pupils have to go outside to transfer within School which is not desirable. The current play area is underused and is proposed for repurposing.
"The shortfall in the length of the build to link the Classbase and School internally, will be made up back to its original dimensions with a replacement covered play area canopy."
