The Odysseus Piano Trio will open the 75th season of Keswick Music Society at St. John’s Church Keswick this month.
This will be the first of 3 autumn/winter concerts there - an exciting occasion for the Society, with an exciting young trio. Their leader’s latest CD has had 5 star reviews and they have a programme which will delight music lovers, perfect for the beginning of a new season.
They will start with the first trios written by Haydn and Fauré, both written late in the composers’ lives, and continue after the interval with Schumann’s passionate first trio.
It was 75 years ago in Keswick that some local music lovers began meeting in the evenings at home to play gramophone records together. They quickly progressed to putting on live concerts by local and national musicians in the Keswick School Hall, attracting well-known musicians and building up a thriving membership.
Since 2001 the concerts have been at Theatre by the Lake, but Covid put a stop to that and, even now, the reopened Theatre cannot offer the customary Sunday evening for concerts. But the Keswick concerts will go on, with a season of two halves!
This November concert will be at St. John’s Church, Keswick on November 12 as will 2 further winter concerts in December and January.
