MEET David Strong, the man who has been making sure Carlisle's firework shows are safe for 24 years.
The Carlisle firework show has been a fixture in the calendar of many who live in the city for decades.
David Strong, working on his 22nd firework show, is part of Carlisle City Council's labour crew team and plays a part in the stewarding of the event.
David plays an essential role in making sure that everyone that attends the fireshow is safe by making sure that barriers, fences and security are ready for the firework show.
Something which David insists is the top priority ahead of the event is that it is rigorously planned.
He said: "It's a huge planning exercise that starts months in advance and there is a great team of poeple that work on it behind the scenes."
David also gave his own advice to those planning on attending on how best to keep safe and comfortable.

He said: "Wear sensible shoes, wear clothing suitable for an autumn evening, it's supposed to be good weather but that can mean it will be very cold."
24 years ago David decided to get involved with the local festivites and reflected on that decision ahead of his 22nd fireshow.
He said: "There was an email that came out asking for poeple to help on the labour side whilst the bonfire was being built and it was something I just fancied doing.
"I did it that first year and I loved it and I have done it ever since."
After the two-year absence of the fireshow, David also hopes that this year's Roman-themed bonfire will mark its return with a bang.
He said: "It really was a miss because the sense of achievement that we get and pride as a team is brilliant, and it's lovely to see so many people come and enjoy something.
"Every year you think how can you top it but the guys this year have done an absolutely stunning job and every year they exceed our expectations."
