A POPULAR Lake District walking route will be closed until early next week, after the trail was blocked by a tree which has fallen down.
The Keswick to Threlkeld trail is blocked due to a tree down across the bridge east of a small tunnel.
The Lake District National Park Authority have decided to close the route to 'keep people safe' and hope to re-open the path early next week.
A statement said: "The Keswick to Threlkeld trail is blocked due to a tree down across the bridge east of the small tunnel.
"To keep people safe we have had to close the trail from Westcoe bridge to the Threlkeld end immediately and the closure is likely to be in place until early next week.
"Please take notice of barriers and signage along the trail. Thank you for your patience."
