A POPULAR Carlisle takeaway which operated formally under the name of Carlisle Express is set for a rebrand.

Carlisle Express on London Road will now be known as Everest Kitchen and new signage is to be erected soon.

The Indian-Nepalese takeaway was initially set up in 2013 and has undergone various business names and ownership.

The changes to the takeaway include ongoing logistics changes to food suppliers and new Everest-inspired dishes.

Iftikar Hussain, the spokesperson for Everest Kitchen, who assists with the operation of the business said: "With the brand change, Everest Kitchen hopes to delight its customers.

"Everest Kitchen also hopes the changes will mean new kitchen staff from experienced Nepalese curry industries can be employed."

Carlisle Express ran for seven years and during the process it donated to several local charities including the Eden Valley Hospice and women's football teams. The owners said the rebranded unit will still inherit the business's charitable nature.
