Emergency services are in attendance at a town-centre house fire.
The house fire in on Scotch Street, Whitehaven.
Police were called to the scene at 1:34pm today (December 3).
One person has been reported to need medical attention for smoke inhalation.
The injury is not believed to be serious. The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.
The road will remain closed whilst the property is made safe.
This closer may remain in place for a long period of time, police say.
A spokesperson from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 1:32pm, four fire engines attended an incident on Scotch Street, Whitehaven.
"The incident was a fire involving one domestic property which was well alight on arrival. Firefighters used two hose reel jets, ten breathing apparatus, one thermal image camera, a positive pressure ventilation fan and two triple extension ladders to bring the fire under control.
"Two casualties suffering smoke inhalation were conveyed to hospital by ambulance, fire service were on scene for two hours."
