Police are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision between a citroen car and a pedestrian at the A595 Orton Grange on Tuesday evening. 

A pedestrian, a man in his 80s from the Wigton area, was declared dead at the scene

Emergency services were called at 4:45pm on December 13 and police closed the road in both directions whilst officers investigated the incident. 

Cumbria Police are requesting that anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it, or anyone who has any information which may assist with the investigation, makes contact.

A 60-year-old man, driving a Toyota, died in a road traffic collision with an Audi on Well Lane, Carlisle at 4:10pm on December 9. 

Carlisle City Councillor John Collier, who represents the Dalston and Burgh ward told motorists to be vigilant after the second fatal collision locally in recent days.  

He said: “It was horrible, it must be horrible for his family, and especially at this time of year.

"My sympathies, of course, go out with the family.

"I do wish people would be very careful on the road.

"I used to be a driving instructor and I am always telling people to be careful out there especially during the winter and in these conditions.

Local people also took to social media to express their sympathies to the 80-year-old who was sadly killed

One said: "So many deaths on the roads at the minute. RIP"

Another posted: "So sad poor guy and at Christmas as well"

Meanwhile Cumbria police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the Well Lane collision on December 9.
