THE family of a man who sadly died in a road traffic collision at Orton Grange (A595) have paid tribute to his life.
Walter Faulder, 89, of Fell View, Wigton was pronounced deceased at the scene following the collision on Tuesday December 13.
In tribute his family said he was a hero and a gentleman.
The statement read:“My Dad was a truly wonderful gentleman.
“Proud to be a Wigtonian and serve his community through the fire service, receiving a British Empire Medal for his good service and dedication.
“He was a devoted husband, a wonderful father and a doting grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
“Not all hero’s wear capes, some use a fire hose.”
Emergency services were called at 4:45pm on December 13 and police closed the road in both directions whilst officers investigated the incident.
Cumbria Police are requesting that anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it, or anyone who has any information which may assist with the investigation, makes contact.
