A MOUNTAIN rescue team is edging closer to the milestone that is 70 years of providing a life-saving service within the Lake District.
Cockermouth MRT will hit their Platinum Jubilee celebrations next year.
In 2022 alone, the outfit have responsded to 69 rescue missions, with the majority centred around the heart of the Lake District.
But it's not just rescue missions that have allowed the team to showcase their skills.
Earlier this year, members of the team got themselves roped up to have lunch with Gordon Ramsey 1,000 feet in the air for his BBC show Future Food Stars.
On social media, the MRT said: "2023 is an important year for Cockermouth Mountain Rescue, our 70th Anniversary! To get the ball rolling we have produced a calendar showcasing the history of the team.
"A limited number will be for sale both at The New Bookshop and on Christmas Eve at our stand outside Sainsbury's Cockermouth," they said.
More events celebrating the milestone are set to be announced early next year.
The group, like all MRTs, are reliant on donations to keep providing their life-saving service, to donate visit www.cockermouthmrt.org.uk/default.html
