A NUMBER of fixed penalty notices have been issued to people after being caught on camera fly-tipping at general waste sites in some West Cumbrian towns.
Following the installation of two CCTV towers at recycling points at Silloth (North Street Car Park) and Cockermouth (Sullart Street Car Park) earlier this week, the council's Enforcement Team have issued fixed penalty notices to individuals who have been fly-tipping general waste at the sites.
A spokesman from Allerdale Borough Council said: "We would like to remind residents that the recycling sites can take glass, cans and plastics, as well as paper and card. They are not suitable for general waste.
"Leaving general waste at these sites is fly-tipping, anyone caught leaving general waste at any of the recycling sites throughout Allerdale will be issued with a fixed penalty notice.
"To ensure the maximum use of space, residents are asked to flatten any boxes before putting them in the paper and cardboard bins."
