For this Nostalgia edition we will be taking a look back over 110 years to the year 1910.

This is a whole different era to the one we are familiar with today.

When looking back at these photos we can see some stark differences between life back then and life now.

1910 was the year when George V became King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland upon the death of his father Edward VII and and the earth passed through the tail of Halley's Comet.

It was also the same year that the first film version of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein came out, it was considered to be the first ever horror movie and starred actor Charles Ogle as the monster.

There was quite a lot happening back here in Cumbria too. Here at the News & Star we've searched through our archives to find some of the most interesting pictures from this time. We hope you enjoy this trip back in time just as much as we have.

The first picture shows the Keekle AFC team pictured in 1910 whilst the second shows Langley Castle which was restored in 1910.

We can also see English Street in Carlisle that same year and a motor lorry being used for carrying wood.

Another of the pictures show the Wigton Water Polo Team with the Cumberland Shield at Wigton Baths and workers at a factory gate in Dentonholme Carlisle.

The final photos show Ralph Walker a victim of the Wellington Pit disaster and a postcard depicting Wellington Pit in Whitehaven in 1910.
