A prominent rock band featuring a member of Iron Maiden is coming to Carlisle.
British Lion, an English hard rock and heavy metal band formed by Steve Harris, best known as the bassist for Iron Maiden, will be performing at The Brickyard in Carlisle on January 10, 2023.
British Lion released their self-titled debut album in 2012 after forming as an outlet for Harris to make shorter hard-rock songs and experiment with different bass styles.
Intended as a side project to allow Harris to tour smaller venues as opposed to the large arenas he typically played with Iron Maiden, the band has been touring clubs across the UK and Europe ever since.
Gaining rave reviews for their killer live shows and solid studio efforts, British Lion has been praised by the likes of Kerrang!, Consequence of Sound, and Louder, with the latter praising the “timelessness” of the band’s sound, saying: “British Lion have evolved into a fiery and characterful ensemble with a strong identity of their own.”
After an explosive slot at the UK’s Download Festival, praised as “irresistible… a set of big, banging heavy rock” by Kerrang!, British Lion will be bringing their colossal sound to some of the nation’s more intimate settings for a UK tour in 2023.
They are being supported by heavy metal bands Airforce and Voodoo Six.
Steve said of their latest tour: “We’re excited to be touring the UK again especially as we’ll be visiting many places we’ve not had a chance to play before, and we’re happy to have our old mates Voodoo Six and Airforce back out on the road with us too.
“Everyone is really looking forward to this tour and we can’t wait to see everyone.”
As well as Carlisle, British Lion will be performing in Nuneaton, Sheffield, Glasgow, Huddersfield, Swansea, Southend, Brighton, Dover, London, and Norwich.
