A WHITEHAVEN charity has gifted a donation it has received to a local business which helps the charity run.
Kerry Carruthers, who created the West Cumbria Eating Disorder Parent and Carer Support Group runs the weekly meetings from Tot Spot in town. Angie Greasley, owner of Tot Spot does not charge Kerry to host her meetings here.
Geoff Brown, who runs Geoff Brown Charitable Trust has helped Kerry and her charity since she won the Volunteer Champion Award at the Diverse Cumbria Awards in September 2022. Geoff gifted Kerry £500.00 and contacted her again in December 2022 to gift another £500.00 for the support group.
When Kerry told Geoff that she runs her support group from Tot Spot and informed him of the amazing work that Angie does to run the soft play area and all the families that attend the venue, they decided to gift the £500.00 to Tot Spot to help continue the services it provides.
Kerry said: "I wanted Angie to receive the donation as a small token of appreciation for the effortless support and work she provides to all those who attend Tot Spot.
"As I fully fund my support group the fact that Angie allows me to run my support group from her venue free of charge is a great help," she said.
Angie was described to be in "utter shock" upon receiving the donation. Angie called Geoff her "secret santa" and thanked him for his donation which go would go some way in allowing her to continue the fantastic work she does.
The donation will allow Angie to pay for items such as nappies, wet wipes, bread and juice (she also provides free toast and a drink to all children who attend the soft play).
