A date has been set for this year’s rendition of the Lakeland Festival of Lights.
This year, it will be on April 1, 2023, supporting the Michelle Jurd Trust, a charity for veterans.
The organisers of the Lakeland Festival of Lights claimed to have raised over £67k for various charities since 2015, and this year will aim to be another big fundraiser.
People do not need a ticket to attend, and can simply turn up to the meeting spot at the Rawnsley Centre car park in Keswick (CA12 5NP) at 5:30pm.
After an event briefing and a raffle, a 2.5 mile walk on good trails to Catbells follows.
Then, people line Catbells from the top to the bottom and photographs are captures from a professional photographer.
A spokesperson for the Lakeland Festival of Lights organisers said: “The evening can often be a cold one, so come prepared with more clothes than you think.
“We do have to wait for it to get dark to get an amazing picture, and standing around is chilly, so I’ll say it again, be prepared for this.
“Also, don’t forget your head torch.
“Once the pictures are snapped we descend safely and you walk back to Keswick, with the event wrapping up by about 10pm.
“Unfortunately, the event is not suitable for mobility scooters etc, but Crow Park in Keswick offers a superb vantage point.
“Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept under control and dog waste is removed from the mountain.”
