AN EDEN man has admitted an actual bodily harm assault on a woman – but he was “extremely unwell at the time,” a court heard.
Steven Mounsey, 61, was originally charged with intentionally causing the woman grievous bodily harm, an allegation he denies. During a hearing at Carlisle Crown Court, the prosecution accepted his plead to the lesser charge.
The court heard that it happened on October 27, 2021. The defendant’s mental health state could be clearly ascertained from the police bodyworn camera footage, the court heard.
After legal discussions, Judge Louise Brandon adjourned the sentencing hearing until February 17, remanding the defendant, of Lowther Glen, Eamont Bridge, Penrith, in custody until that date. She asked the Probation Service to prepare a background report on Mounsey.
