Lauren Smith will launch her bid for success at the Malaysian Open tomorrow.
The Cumbrian badminton star will team up with Chloe Birch in her women’s doubles first round match.
The Longtown player and Birch take on South Korean fifth seeds Na Eun Jeong and Hye Jeong Korkim in the round of 32.
They are the only English duo in the women’s draw in the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, which sees double Olympian Smith involved in her first international tournament of 2023.
The men’s draw sees English pair Ben Lane and Sean Vendy up against Chinese duo Yu Chen Liu and Xuan Yi Ou.
It is part of a double Asian test for Commonwealth Games medallist Smith, 31, who will also team up with Birch in the Indian Open next week.
