A new ‘state-of-the-art’ eye-care clinic has opened its doors.

Under the direction of Gerard Ainsworth, Lakeland Vision will offer patients from across Cumbria and the wider Northwest eye-care procedures.

Founded in 2008, this is the first time that it has had its own bespoke premises.

Open in Penrith, the team there will assess eye health, perform eye surgery, manage long-term conditions like diabetic eye disease and glaucoma, and carry out necessary eye-enhancing cosmetic surgery.

They also specialise in providing same-day bilateral surgery.

Ged said: “This has been a long-held dream of mine to have our very own premises here in the heart of Cumbria.

“It’s incredibly important to me that as a small independent clinic, we are fortunate to have the freedom and flexibility to choose how and who we work with.

“This means that in addition to offering an unrivalled service in an unparalleled corner of the country, we are able to serve our local community while forging partnerships with world-class institutions including the Royal Manchester Eye Hospital.

“By the same token, because we are local and small in size, we are able to offer a consistency of care not widely available – and that really matters to our patients – and to me.”

Lakeland Vision accepts both referrals and prospective patients contacting the clinic directly.

The new clinic is on Gillan Way on the outskirts of Penrith.
