CARLISLE-based H&H Insurance Brokers have issued advice to those who have been affected by flooding.
The company, which is based in the city and has offices across the county, has detialed the steps people should take to ensure that insurance claims for any flood damage are settled quickly.
Stuart Torrance, claims manager at H&H advised those affected by flooding to take specific action.
He said: "Once it’s safe to do so, gather together information which will help speed up the process such as listing the damage to your property and belongings, and marking the height the flood water reached in each room.
"Taking photographs and videos of damaged property and items is important, along with noting down as much detail as possible, such as serial numbers, make and model. Don’t throw anything away until you've been told that you can, with the exception of perishable food which will need to be recorded if you are claiming for it. Keep any receipts for work done or purchases made associated with the flood."
