Carlisle United have confirmed the loan signing of Crystal Palace striker John-Kymani Gordon.

The 19-year-old has sealed a move to Brunton Park for the rest of the season.

Gordon was heavily linked with a move to the promotion-chasing Blues in recent weeks.

And the young Premier League forward has now completed his temporary switch to United as their third January signing, as Paul Simpson bolsters his attack for the second half of the campaign.

Gordon has come through the ranks at Palace and impressed for their under-21s in Premier League 2 this season.

He has also been on the first-team bench for Patrick Vieira's side, with this his first loan move, having attracted reported interest from other clubs in League One and Two.

He could figure along with fellow new boys Jack Robinson and Alfie McCalmont for the first time when United take on Newport County at home tomorrow.

United boss Simpson, speaking on the club website, said of the move: “I think this is a really exciting signing for us.

"He's a really talented and exciting player and if we can get him to develop and get used to first team football I think our supporters will really enjoy watching him.

"He's slightly different to what we've got, he brings individuality in his style and an ability to go past players.

"He can score goals and he's really good to watch.

"We've been watching him for a good while now, we've all been out to see him live, and we've watched clips of him.

"I went and met him earlier on in the week down in London just to put my point across to him about what I want to see from him, and I know he's delighted to be up here.

"He's possibly found it a shock as to just how far north we are but he'll settle and I'm looking forward to seeing him play."

The new signing recently signed a new long-term deal with the Selhurst Park club.

Speaking on Palace's website, Gordon said of his move to Cumbria: “I'm really excited to get started on loan at Carlisle.

"I’ve learned a lot training and playing the first team and under-21s this season, and now I look forward to improving my game even more with senior football.”
