A man who took off his shirt and began slapping his chest in a “bizarre Tarzan impression” has been fined for being drunk and disorderly.
The incident took place on Duke Street in Whitehaven just before 2am on July 3, Workington Magistrates’ Court heard.
CJay Burns, 18, was taking off his shirt and slapping his chest. Prosecutor Pamela Fee said it was believed that the defendant wanted to start a fight.
Police spoke to him. His eyes were glazed and he smelled strongly of intoxicants. He began to argue with officers and was then arrested for being drunk and disorderly.
Burns, of Firth View Walk, Workington, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
John Cooper, defending, said: “It’s a bizarre Tarzan impression for about an hour in front of police.”
Burns was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £16 victim surcharge.
