CARLISE man Kane Hull has been charged with conspiring to commit arson and two allegations of possessing mobile phones in a prison.
Hull, 29, was due to appear before magistrates at Carlisle’s Rickergate court where his case was listed for an 11.30am video-link hearing. However, he did not appear and the hearing was adjourned until February 2.
The charges Hull faces are as follows:
* That on October 3, 2022, at Durham, he conspired with [another man] to commit arson on a vehicle belonging to a man whose name is included in court papers.
* That on October 11, 2022, at HMP Frankland, Durham, the defendant possessed without authority a mobile phone, a prohibited item as specified in section 40D (3A) and (5) of the Prison Act 1952.
* And that on the same date and in the same place he committed an identical offence, possessing a mobile phone, a prohibited item as specified in the relevant section of the Prison Act 1952.
After brief legal discussions, the case was adjourned until noon on February 2, when the defendant is expected to appear before the same court via a video link. All conspiracy allegations are usually sent to a crown court.
