Officers from the Carlisle Neighbourhood Policing Team, Special Constabulary, Carlisle City Council Safer Streets Officers and volunteers from University of Cumbria have set up a welfare hub outside Carlisle Train Station.
The welfare hub is open every Saturday evening from 9pm until late to help make sure everyone is safe on a night out.
Staff can provide a safe place for those separated from friends or family while on a night out and officers are also out on foot patrol in and around the city centre checking on anyone appearing vulnerable.
The scheme has been running for a year now and has received positive feedback according to the police.
Users of the service have said that the welfare hub has made them feel 'safer' and the team have helped dozens of party goers since the hub was set up.
Last week was national neighbourhood policing week of action and Cumbria Police put a spotlight on the 'hard work' their officers do.
