A PLANNING application has been put forward to change the use of a former motorcycle repair shop in Carlisle to a new takeaway.

The application looks to change the use of the former Jack Horseman motorcycle repair shop on London Road, next to The Cranemakers pub, in the Botchergate area.

No building work or changes to the façade are noted but the proposal comes with plans to include a non-illuminated signage to be added to the south west gable.

The application has been submitted by Gray Associates Limited, on behalf of Rajya Laxmi Pathak.

The proposed plans outline the hot food takeaway will be open from 11am to 11pm.

The design and access statement reads: "This document is provided to support the planning application to change the use of the premises and provide non-illuminated signage to the south west gable. The sign will be 2400w x 800h and will be fitted at the same height as the signage to the front elevation. It will be fitted flat to the wall and will project no more than 50mm.

"The change of use will apply to the ground floor area only and the change will be from Retail (A1) to Hot Food Takeaway (A5), though no building work or changes to the façade are proposed.

"The principle signage to the front elevation of the shop will be as approved under planning consent 2021/0902 and will be illuminated."
