A PROGRAMME designed to raise awareness of social action in the community will be celebrating the success of its school participants later this year.
Since September 2022, Cumbria Youth Alliance has worked with seven schools throughout Cumbria delivering the programme to 360 young people, working with mentors from 35 local businesses.
The programme is designed to raise awareness of social action in the community, to support the local community needs, reduce anti-social behaviour, raise aspirations, develop employability skills, and reduce youth unemployment in the future.
Each group is supported every step of the way by a local mentor and through taking part, young people will develop essential life skills such as working under pressure, coping with stress, dealing with conflict, and presenting in front of a large group.
The CYA celebration event in March will see the winning idea from each school will pitch their project to a panel of high-profile judges and the county-wide champion will be chosen.
