WORKINGTON MP Mark Jenkinson has been selected as the Conservative parliamentary candidate for the new Penrith and Solway constituency at the next election.
The new constituency will stretch from Seaton in Workington and encompass Maryport, Cockermouth and the Solway, then east to Eden and Alston Moor.
It's coming in to place as a result of a boundary review across the country.
Mr Jenkinson and Penrith and the Borders MP Dr Neil Hudson have been involved in a selection process for the seat in recent weeks, with Mr Jenkinson being announced as the chosen candidate this afternoon, February 4.
Mark Jenkinson MP said: "I am delighted to have been chosen to represent the Conservatives in the new Penrith and a Solway constituency at the next election the constituency in which I live, in which I spent much of my childhood and over half of which I have represented since 2019.
"Until then my focus remains my constituents in my current Workington constituency."
