SPEEDO Mick walked up Scafell Pike this weekend in his final ever stomp across the UK, raising money for mental health and suicide prevention.

Mick's challenge started in John O’Groats on December 29 and will finish in Land's End. This is his last walk across the UK but this time he has decided to take on the 'three peaks' too.

Mick has completed Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike and is due to climb Snowdon on February 18... all in his speedos.

Mick started walking again on Sunday from Gretna Green, to Carlisle, Penrith, Shap, Crooklands, and Lancaster.

This is Mick's last ever walk to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. He said he recognises that both are a huge issue, after needing the same support at one stage in his life and now especially as the cost of living crisis soars.

But Mick's team said that this is "also to put a smile on people's faces wherever he goes."

Over the last seven years, Mick has raised over £800,000 and in this last walk, he’s looking to raise the final £200,00 to reach his over all target of £1million. So far he has raised £97,000 on this walk so he is well on track for the million.

Many ask the question, why the speedos? Mick's team said: "The speedos, well that comes from his first ever challenge when he decided he was going to swim the channel, and didn’t realise that he had to do it in speedos.

"That’s where it all started but now, he wears them as a conversation starter about why he’s doing all of this fundraising, the people he’s helping and to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention."

Mick's team explained how he keeps warm, especially in this Cumbrian weather, they said: "He’s got to just keep moving, the faster he walks when its cold the warmer he gets, he drink hot drinks to keep his core warm and avoid hyperthermia and he does have clothes with him if he really does get too cold, but at the end of the day it's mind over matter."
