A CUMBRIAN MP has said he is 'very disappointed' with the decision of the boundary commision to abolish his current constituency.
Dr Neil Hudson, MP for the current Penrith and the Border constituency, made the comments as he congratulated Mark Jenkinson on being selected as the prospective candidate for the new Penrith and Solway parliamentary seat.
The new constituency will stretch from Seaton in Workington and encompass Maryport, Cockermouth and the Solway, then east to Eden and Alston Moor.
It's coming in to place as a result of a boundary review across the country.
Mr Jenkinson and Dr Hudson were both involved in a selection process for the seat in recent weeks, with Mr Jenkinson being announced as the chosen candidate on February 4.

Dr Hudson said: "I congratulate Mr Jenkinson on his selection as the prospective parliamentary candidate for the newly-formed seat of Penrith and Solway.
"Obviously, I am very disappointed that the Boundary Commission is abolishing the current constituency of Penrith and The Border.
"My focus, as ever, remains on serving the good folk of Penrith and The Border to the very best of my ability.”
