A CARLISLE cat was hit by a train when she was just 6 months old and lost her tail and leg in the accident - now her owners have set up a gofundme to help raise money for a 'catio'.
Late last year, Wanda the cat went missing for one night. She was only six months old at the time which meant she could not have wandered too far, and missing posters were shared around.
The next day her owners found her after hearing her 'meow' as they called her name. They managed to locate her on the railway line behind their house. Unsure if she was injured or stuck in the brambles, they got Network Rail to collect her from the lines.
The GoFundMe said: "As the rail man picked her up it was obvious. She had been hit by a train, her leg was missing and her tail hanging off.
"Amazingly her blood vessels and arteries were crushed, this sounds horrific but it saved her from bleeding to death!"
Wanda has since had surgery to remove the remainder of her back leg, her tail was also amputated. She also had a pelvis fracture so she’s been on complete crate rest for around 3 months.

Whilst Wanda has made great progress through the Craig Robinson Vets. Unfortunately she is becoming very depressed, as she needs pain medication and she is desperate to enjoy the outdoors again. The GoFundMe said: "She is crying at the door, it’s heartbreaking!"
Her owners are requesting help through the GoFundMe to buy an outdoor catio where she can be free to play in the summer but safely.
She will no longer be able to be an outdoor cat, as it’s too dangerous for her to fend for herself so this is the best option for Wanda, the owners say.
The GoFundMe said: "We are hoping the kindness of others will help Wanda get back to being a happy kitty and also to help with future costs for her medical treatments."
"Times are hard for everyone but this kitty really is worth every penny."
