A FUNDRAISING appeal by a hotel group has raised more than £10,000.
Guests, employees and suppliers of Lake District Hotels Ltd have raised funds for the British Red Cross assisting with the Turkey-Syria earthquake efforts.
The appeal was only launched on Wednesday and saw the family-owned group match every pound donated by a funder.
“We have been deeply moved to hear about the tragedy which has continued to unfold in Turkey and Syria over the past few days", said director Dani Hope. "Seeing the heartbreak of families has truly resonated with all three directors and we wanted to do all we could to offer support and safety to those fighting for their lives."
Director Kit Graves added: “Through your generosity, we have successfully reached our target in just under 48 hours and all the money will go directly toward the rescue effort to free those who are trapped beneath the rubble.”
This fundraising appeal comes nearly one year since the group successfully raised £10,000 for Ukrainian refugees following the outbreak of war.
