JOIN an RAF veteran for a personal account of the force's biggest and busiest deployed Tornado base during the 1991 Gulf War this Valentine's Day at Cumbria's Museum of Military Life.

Commander Mal Craghill, who is a volunteer at Solway Aviation Museum and once commanded the Tornado GR4 'Top Gun' school, will take you inside the cockpit of the Tornado GR1 on some of the most dangerous missions of the war, using actual mission maps and personal photographs from his archive.

Mal enjoyed a 30-year RAF career, which included navigating Tornado GR1 and GR4 bombers, an exchange tour in America on the F15E, and numerous operational tours dating back to the 1991 Gulf War.

The Riding the Storm: Flying the Tornado GR1 on Operation Granby event will begin at 6pm in the museum's Alma Block, with the invite open to all - however, booking a ticket in advance is recommended.

Tickets are £5 each (£6 on the door) and can be booked by contacting the museum on 01228 532774 or online.
