Police are appealing for witnesses following a two-vehicle collision on the A66, between the Bridgefoot roundabout and Stainburn roundabout, near Workington.
The collision was reported at 5.53pm on February 13 and involved a blue Renault Clio and a red Volkswagen Golf.
Two people in the Clio – a man and a woman – were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Golf, a man, was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with serious injuries. He was in a critical condition today.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
