Labour has selected its candidate for Carlisle at the next general election.
Labour members in Carlisle selected Julie Minns to represent the constituency.
Julie has a history of leading and taking part in campaigns on a national and local level, perhaps most notably in Carlisle as the chair of Friends of the Carlisle Victorian and Turkish Baths.
A Labour spokesperson said: "Julie has a history of fighting campaigns on a national and local level.
"From disability rights to child protection, Julie has a track record of winning to support some of the most vulnerable in society."
Speaking after her selection, Julie said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to be selected by local members to be Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Carlisle.
"Carlisle is my home, it's where I was born, where I went to school and it’s the place that made me who I am today.
“My parents instilled in me patriotism and a belief in community and it’s those values I’d bring to the fore as your MP.

"I’m a campaigner, and I will use my voice to fight tooth and nail for the people of Carlisle on the issues that matter to you, particularly when it comes to public transport.
"We’re being let down badly and need a network that will serve our city and our villages.”
“13 years of the Tories have hurt Carlisle.
"Families here are struggling, with rising energy bills, stagnating wages and an NHS at breaking point.
"We need an MP and a Government that works for all of us, not just those at the top.
"I will be working every second from now, out on the doors, listening to local people and making sure their voices are heard.”
