A YOUNG girl has been praised for raising hundreds of pounds for three separate charities.

Elizabeth Cooper, aged eight, from Denton Holme in Carlisle, has amazed her community by her charity work.

Elizabeth attends 1st Hayton Brownies and where she was awarded her charity work badge in September after the success of her selfless acts  and raising hundreds of  pounds over the last year.

"I am very proud of Elizabeth," Chloe Harrison, Elizabeth's Brownie leader, said.

"It's not everyday you have such a cheery girl who has helped not one or two but three different charities within a few months.

"Her charitable acts began when she wanted to support her school friend, who still has family in Ukraine.

"So Elizabeth and her mum found out about a collection to help Ukrainian refugees in Poland and spent the next couple of months helping sort and pack boxes ready to be sent to Poland.

"Following the success her last charitable act, she decided to cut her hair and knew about the Little Princess Trust, so wanted to donate her hair.

"For her last fundraiser, she wanted to do more so she decided to do a sponsorship to raise funds for the local food bank that she'd help at before and raised £350.

"She always tells us how proud she is for raising that much for the food bank.

"I presented Elizabeth with her Brownie Charity Badges back in September but knew she deserved more than the badge."

Elizabeth's parent's Stuart and Laura Cooper said: "We are very proud of her kind and thoughtful nature.

"She is always looking at ways of helping others, with fundraising or giving her time."

Elizabeth's efforts have also being recognised as she was also nominated for a national award in Girlguiding.

Laura adds: "Elizabeth was nominated for the Girlguiding North West England Region President Award which is awarded to young members of Girlguiding North West England.

"The award recognises those who have gone the extra mile to help others and have had a positive impact in their community and beyond."
