A thriving Cockermouth club was delighted to be given a surprise award - marking the great work it does in the community.
The Rotary Club of Cockermouth held its 83rd charter night dinner recently, with 100 guests.
Guest speaker the High Sheriff of Cumbria Alan McViety spoke of his role over the past year.
He then surprised - and delighted members - when he presented them with a High Sheriff’s award.
It was in honour of the work the Rotarians carry out in the community, and in particular the mental health conference they delivered last month.
Club president Julia Mather, a retired teacher, said: "The award recognises the great and valuable contribution to enhancing the life of the community and making a difference to people's lives.
"We were delighted to be awarded with it. The conference was a huge success with a great selection of speakers and can now be accessed online by other clubs throughout the country."
It was organised by members, with help from members of the Bassenthwaite Rotary Club and funding from GDF Allerdale.
