HERE'S a round up of some of the cases to have taken place in Carlisle and West Cumbria this week. 

Zholia Alemi

A degree certificate held by a woman who claimed to be a qualified doctor, had “the appearance of being altered”, an expert in analysing documents told a jury. Zholia was jailed for seven years this week.

Kyle Dempsey

Bolton Wanderers player Kyle Dempsey, 27, who once played for Carlisle United, previously denied assaulting a man in Maryport on Saturday, July 16 last year. His father Michael Dempsey, 50, also denied an identical charge.

At Carlisle Crown Court this week, both men admitted the allegation.

Derek Heggie

Grandfather, Derek, infuriated by a four-year "campaign of harassment" drove after one of his tormentors in his car, knocking the teenager off his bike.

Callum Griffiths

He slapped his ex-partner, turned over a tree, kicked a dog cage and held a piece of glass to his own throat during Christmas Eve “fireworks” after they split.

Harikson Shkurti

Harikson Shkurti, now aged 23, was stopped by police while driving a silver Audi on the M6 southbound, between Southwaite and Junction 41, close to Penrith at around 1.25pm on December 8, 2021.

Shkurti was the sole occupant of the vehicle, which was searched. Some 306 cannabis plants were found inside cardboard boxes which were in the boot.
