Pupils, staff and governors from Temple Sowerby CE School were delighted today to receive official confirmation from Ofsted that the school has, once again, been rated as Good.
Temple Sowerby was judged as a ‘good school’ after inspection on January 19 2023.
The inspectors recognised the school has more than met the challenge of working through the ‘Next Steps’ outlined during its last inspection in 2017 where it continued its ‘good’ rating.
They were particularly impressed by the schools’ strong safeguarding culture, the pupil’s well-mannered, courteous, and polite behaviour and by its broad, ambitious curriculum which meets the needs of all pupils.
The report also recognised the school’s ‘culture of high expectations, its strong emphasis on reading and for the wealth of opportunities the children experience at this vibrant, happy school.’
Mr Karl Laithwaite, Headteacher said: “I’m delighted that this report recognises the efforts of our staff and governors in creating a broad, ambitious and exciting curriculum for our pupils.
It also reflects the high standards of behaviour and welfare, as well as the happy, caring, and welcoming ethos of our school, which we are all so proud of.”
Mrs Hannah Cleasby, Chair of Governors added: “This is an excellent report and I’m really pleased that Ofsted have recognised the hard work that everyone puts in to provide a wonderful, safe, and happy place to learn.
